Hi there,
All this talk of overheating lead me to this
bongo silicon coolant hoses. Has anyone fitted them ? I wondered what everyone thought.
Matt.

Hi there,
Flippa on this forum has a shop that sells all the silicon hoses etc for the bongo. PM him and ask.
I believe they are supposed to last longer.
Remember there are many components in the cooling system, not just the rubber pipes so you need to keep an eye on all the bits and add to that protection such as a hayden low coolant alarm and a mason alarm if you are worried.

I fitted some of Flippa's hoses and a Mason alarm when I first got the van... peace of mind and all that.
I am sure that the silicine hoses were cheaper than normal rubber ones, and they look nicer!

Those ones on fleabay are Flippa's, bit better on price & the theory is they last longer, I've got all of mine replaced with silicon, only time will tell of course. they do look better too but you will need to get some decent jubilee clips, you can't re-use the standard clips with the silicon hoses. If you're going to do it take the time to give it a proper flush out using something like a "holts" 2 part flush & backflush the rad.

Yes and if you do a search on "silicon hoses" you'll find full chapter and verse on the many pros and the few cons.

All my old rubber hoses "seemed" fine...But i did take the opportunity to replace all i could with the silicon option, no regrets there.
