Bongo Fury

Hi all,
I'm new to this site and just figuring how it works.

I have a serious overheating problem whigh I think is because a garage I took my bongo to fitted a wrong hose. As soon as I get the right part I'll try to fix myself. However, I would also like to get the vehicle properly checked and serviced so I'm looking for a reliable place that knows Bongos in the West Midlands, Birmingham. Any suggestions?

BUT, don't slow down my Bongo conversion

I'd second the Ian taylor suggestion - Just had a new head, rad and hoses done.

I haven't used GP up at Stone but that was only because I didn't have a personal reccomendation and had just moved to the area.

Did it overheat before you had a new hose fitted ?? Did the garage fit the hose then bleed the system properly ??

Sounds as though you could have big problems. Don't drive it anywhere till it has been "properly fixed"

Haydn - had no problems before hose was fitted. I'll try to get proper hose and fit myself. How do I bleed the system?

I'm in Handsworth, Birmingham but don't mind travelling if I can find a good reliable garage.

I've ordered a hose which I'll try. An additional note on my problem - as I was looking at parts, I noticed thermostats listed. When I took my Bongo back to the garage who fitted the wrong hose and asked him to look at the overheating problem, he told me there was no thermostat fitted. Can anyone advise me on this one!

My Bongo is the diesel version.

You certainly need another garage in that case... yes there is one fitted.

Honestly, take it to Ian Taylor. His chaps know their stuff and Ian is the most genuine guy in the motor trade I have dealt with. He will take real ownership of your problem.

Hi I live by Merry Hill Shoping Ctr I had a problem with our's when a hose went. I can pop over and help you to bleed it if you are stuck. Then you can drive it to the garage and get it checked over. If you need me let me know.

agree with above would not drive it until your sure its been bled properly .

hi kev think i should start makin up bleeding kits lol

Sounds like I'll need a bleeding kit - good business if this is a common problem!
