Bongo Fury

Didn't want to rush and break something so have posted a request for advice;

I have noticed that my coolant bleed hose is slightly worn (underneath) due to it having been laying on top of the alternator. I was in the process of re routing the hose (without having to disconnect it), intending to simply lay it on top of the electical cabling that appears well insulated and which runs to the alternator.

I have two questions please;

(1) There is a little grey plastic socket with two cables in that I am unable to easily remove from the alternator. Assuming I have disconnected the main battery should it be safe to remove this and how is it removed ?

(2) I then intend to disconnect the electical cabling that is bolted to the right hand side of the alternator and is protected by a little rubber cap. Is there any reason why this bolt should not be removed allowing me to swap the position of the bleed hose and the electrical cabling ?

Once these two tasks have been done I then intend to reroute the hose without either it or the alternator's electrical cabling resting on the external alternator housing.

A lot of us sleeve the hose with a bit of garden hose or similar, split lengthways, cable tie it up off the alternator, or why not just unclip the bleed hose on the outboard side & lay it over the cables - no need to disconnect anything

As Kirsty says just place a piece of hose pipe around the pipe and tie up away from the alternator, if you disconnect the pipe or knock the bung out you may have to bleed the system depending on how much coolant you lose.
