Bongo Engine Condition Question

Hi I been posting on the general forum about a Bongo I have found. Basically its an import with low milage but had its roof damaged and has been left standing in the corner of a workshop for 18 months.

Anyway here are a couple of pics of the engine bay both driver side and passenger side

Passenger Side

Driver side

As you can see the bolts on the passenger side casing are pretty corroded and there is white fleck on the casing. Is this just caused because its been stood a while in damp and not used ?

As you can see on the other side its pretty good only 38,500 Kms (25k miles)

It all runs fine.

Regards

Jerry

 @ scanner

Looks a very clean engine Jerry, make sure if you buy the bongo get a full service as part of the deal, if its been stood that long I would imagine the coolant wont be up to much, especially if its the original from Japland, they tend to crystalise/gel and can cause a blockage.

Where's the gunk from the EGR valve and obligatory rocker cover oil leak?

The overall condition seats, carpet, catches, switches etc all indicate its low milage.

WD40 will tidy it up. Looks ok from where I'm sitting

Bit of advice, if you have any nagging doubts over the radiator, hoses and pipes get them all done as soon as you can afford them. Otherwise a new cylinder head could be a dearer option in the near future.

Best of luck with bongo ownership

I was thinking the casing flecking would come from the steam clean?
