Bongo Fury

Hi chaps,

What is the point of it?
How is the best way of setting one up?
and where could I get it done this week for cheap?

You could possibly fit it yourself or get a local garage or auto electrician to do it. You'll probably need a battery tray too. I would recommend a Willinton kit to go with it. Nothing there at the moment but keep looking at http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/willinton/

The only thing not covered is the WHY - Which is basically quite simple its very easy to forget just how much power you are drawing from the Starter battery especially when your at a camp site during the evening or overnight or if your parked up for a day or two. With two or more people switching radio's, lights, fridges, cooler boxes, Ipods, Nintendo's, laptops, phones on and off you will loose track even if your capable of estimating how much power is being drawn by each device! Also the starter battery will age, and then one day you will go to start and there's that sinking feeling as the starter motor grinds slowly to a halt and the displays fade from view .....

Ok, next question...

if you have a mains hook-up (non connected, just a power socket coming into the awning or through a window), and use this to power stuff in the evening, what is the benefit of a leisure battery?

Probably none whatsoever, depends if you're going to use stereo, elecric blinds, internal lights, ciggy sockets etc? might be just as well getting a battery charger to keep the starter battery charged though if you're always going to be on hook up. LB just gives you the flexibility to not have to be on hook up.
