V6 Petrol - How to adjust Tickover Speed

Hi,

After much stalling over the months, and headscratching I now know how to adjust the tickover speed on a V6 petrol.

Credit here goes to Fred at discount trucks, he worked it out.

There is an air screw on the rear drivers side of the engine at the top.

Metal body, with a small tube angled towards you.

With the engine warm and AC off use a flat blade screwdriver, turn anti-clockwise to increase the revs, and clockwise to reduce. Obviously don't turn too many times or the screw will fall out.

Rev the engine a few times, let it settle, then check with AC on etc.

What both of you are happy with would be my guess :P

700rpm? 800rpm? Usually something around there on a petrol 'thumper'

Hi,

When mine was being adjusted it was only running at below 500rpm, nice and quiet but prone to stall at the most inconvenient time.

Mine is now set to just under 800RPM.

Best thing to do is try different speeds and see what feels the best.

Thanks for that, I might try it to help cure the surging at tickover which occasionally happens when the LPG has just switched in. It doesn't happen as much as it did originally but so tedious when it does.
Cheers,

Tim

Hi Tim,

I get the same surging, a higher tickover makes that far less noticable and it has (touch wood) so far not stalled once.
