injectors

hi all how easy is it to change injectors and is there anything i need to look out for when i do change them

I'm no techie on this but (and have a Search on here to see what you can find) from what I've read I'd be careful. I think you have to set up the injector timing etc. afterwards and it has to be just right (plus I've no clue how to do it!).

Hi, changing injectors is not a difficult job really, the biggest thing is to keep the area clean around the injectors when lifting them out [to stop dirt dropping into the head]. There are copper sealing washers to be replaced when refitting the injectors, when this is done, refit the pipes as removed, leave pipe nuts finger tight on injectors, crank engine till fuel appears, stop, tighten pipe nuts, then crank over again and engine will start.

Renegade - any thoughts on the issue of injector timing, as discussed in this thread?

You don't affect the timing by just replacing the injectors Mike 8)

Ah! I think I see. You mean the injectors are just a part within the large injector/pump unit? I've got so used to thinking of 'the injector' as the whole thing, and my experience of any of this is limited to stripping down an Amal carburettor circa 1970 :lol: :lol: :lol:

No - they are the things, in the cylinder head, that the fuel pipes attach to (look a bit like spark plugs in an old petrol engine) - nothing to do with the pump.
