Gradual loss of coolant

I've had my Bongo for 5 years now and in that time very little has gone wrong.

About this time last year though I noticed that it was losing coolant but very gradually. It would take a couple of weeks to go from max to min on the expansion bottle. Over the course of this year the rate of loss gradually increased until in May of this year, it was going from max to min in a week. I've subsequently replaced all the hoses with Flippa's silicone ones, new clips applied and the coolant changed. However the coolant is still being lost, taking a week to go from max to min. I've checked all the clips and all the joints seem to be dry. There is no obvious place where coolant is leaking.

So what could be causing this leak? What to check next?

1) the water pump?
2) the radiator?
3) the cap on the expansion chamber?

Any ideas? Anybody else had a slow coolant leak that wasn't caused by leaky hoses?

Cheers

Jon

If he's got any left, get some of Haydn's UV dye - this will show up any small leaks using a UV lamp.

Could well be the water pump, or the head gasket? may be worth getting a sniffer test done on the header tank.
As John said, get in touch with Haydn Callow on here & get the uv dye & torch, found a tiny leak for me a few days ago where a hose clip was weeping & needed tightening ( warned of the minute drop in coolant with the coolant alarm)

Had similar problem but in my case , a few months after fitting new silicon hoses - solved using Haydn's detection fluid - turned out to be a tiny seepage around a hose clip
