Bongo Fury

Hello, I have the XLT decal down the sides of my van, well only one side atm. I used a hairdryer to remove one sides worth, and they came of fairly easily, just as the instructions I read on here said. Now the problem is removing the glue. Any Ideas?

I have bought everything Halfords suggested, I even tried petrol neat rubbed in, heating it back up etc, but to no avail. The glue will not come off.

And it is still sticky! Amazing stuff.

Now short if shotblasting it off, any ideas? I would rather keep the paint I got, I was not planning a respray, but the point of removing the decal was to fix some paint damage under the decal. Now it looks a bit of a mess.

I am going to Hayling Island bash if anyone feel the need to get hands on.

My pal is a car dealer, and he's got what he refers to as "the caramel wheel". No idea if that's a real name, or just his name for it. Basically, it's a brown / caramel coloured rubber wheel that you stick in a drill. It is amazingly good at removing sticky residue from bodywork, and leaving the underlying paintwork untouched. Decals, stickers, number plate sticky pads, etc, etc.

Just done my decals on the doors Used this stuff - http://www.autoglym-shop.com/ Autoglym intensive tar remover. Rub it on, couple of doses, leave it a few minutes then scrape off the top surface of the adhesive with an old credit card (or a current one if it's maxxed ), maybe repeat & scrape, then repeated applications, keep rubbing & it comes off reasonably easily with a bit of perseverance - honest. Just remember to get some polish on it asap once it's done.
Dreading doing the AFT though

Just removed tank protector from my bike to replace it with new one same sticky problem. I have always found WD40/ Pocket rocket good for removing any type of glue. I get the lads at work to use Pocket Rocket (cheap copy of WD40) when we need to remove most glue’s and a good lint free cloth.
Then wash area and apply MER autoglym or any good wax.

Surgical spirit will remove the glue no prob, £1.26 a bottle.

I agree with Blobber. Had a terrible time getting my stickers off. Bought all the reccommendations and the surgical spirit worked the best. Hello Blobber see you Thursday at the bash.
