Heater / Fan Motor Replacement

Ok. This topic rears it's ulgy head again.

Does anyone know of a replacement heater blower motor (from another vehicle) that will fit the Bongo, as mine is bu**ered and the Bongo ones are uber-expensive.

Before you all start, I am now a motor disassembly and renovation expert! On multiple occasions I have stripped it down, cleaned the brushes, greased the spindle cup, cleaned the magnets, rewired the commutator (I'm not making this up!), resoldered the resistor (despite the cover saying not to), checked the fuses and still the bl**dy thing puts out the most feeble supply of air known to man. I had a fly come in the window the other day and the flapping of its wings created more of a breeze!

What's really frustrating is I get all four fan speeds - 1: is-it-on-wind, 2: micro-wind, 3: think-i-might-have-felt-it-wind, 4: can-hear-it-but-still-cooking-wind, so its not that side of things. The motor just isn't man enough.

What I'm after is a blower that'll make my cheeks flap with the force, as it's getting mighty hot down here in Devon and we need to keep the baby cool!

HELP!!!!!!

nope, you cant get a upgraded one, its a case of put up with it I am afraid, but someone mentioned a while ago that a Peugeot 208 heater fan motor will fit, but no one else has tried it and reported back, so it may be a bit more powerfull.

I was wondering if a motor from any other Mazda would fit - say a 626 or something? Haven't got my hands on one to look at it yet though. Will investigate 208. Ta

Mine blasts out fine :? If it doesn't, I'd say there's something wrong, I don't think it's the fact that the standard fans are crap. It was much better after stripping & cleaning it when it died completely.

Ours has always been rubbish. It died twice and I re-animated it twice! Still rubbish. I will post my findings when I get round to it.

I suspect there will be compatibles, as a lot of the bongo parts have come from other vehicles, be worthwhile info to have, as I guess they will only take so much rebuilding

simon_gone_surfing, dont want to sound patronising but have you checked the linkage down by your left foot. (drivers side) The air might be getting directed the wrong way?

Not at all patronising - linkage by foot? This sounds interesting! I'm guessing feeds air to the rear blowers? Extra info would be great.

Nope, just controls where the air goes to with the front blowers, rear blowers have a seperate fan - this lot should help - http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... 43&t=28727
