Bongo Fury

Hi Folks,

I get the above symptoms even though Ive had the front diff changed - anybody got any ideas what it could be - it definitely sounds and feels like something mechanically worn or out of balance. I guess 60 - 65mph brings about its resonant frequency because slower or faster than that the noise isnt so shrill but is still apparent. I have a 'P' reg 4 wheel drive. Its done 100,000 miles so is no spring chicken.

Ive also noticed another noise recently - a clicking sound from front passenger side - almost like a piece of gravel has caught in the groove of the front tyre (it hasnt ive checked).

Any ideas would be appreciated.

check the wheel bearings, it's relatively easy and cheap to do.

110k miles is not actually a lot for a Bongo provided they haven't been in unusually aggressive conditions and that the routine maintenance has been attended to, so don't get too 'down'

Hopefully it will turn out to be something not too dreadful - wheels bearings sounds like a good start. You've had a new front diff. - did you have new CVs fitted at the same time? Not sure if they would fit your description but they live in the same part of the world as it were
