Bongo Fury

Hi all.

I have just bought a new set of brake discs and pads. I have been able to remove the brake pad calliper and replace the brake pads but the brake disk will not come off. I was of the opinion that the disc is held on by the brake pads and wheel itself and so should just pull off once the wheel and brake calliper have been removed. Am I missing something? Is there something else I need to do in order to remove the disc?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've never done the Bongo, but many rear brake discs also form the brake drum for the handbrake - you may need to back the brake shoes off (I believe it's done by turning a knurled wheel through a hole in the drum).

You shouldn't have to go to that extreme but you do have to take the handbrake off. It's then just a case of 'wiggling' the disc off like you would with a brake drum. It's a while since I did mine so just check there isn't a retaining screw facing you (can't remember).

I'm sure someone else had this problem recently and got it sorted after advice on here. Have you had a Search for relevant threads? It wasn't long ago.
