Recirculation sliding control on dash

I have a feeling my Recirculation sliding control on the dash may be a tad Communist- it utterly refuses to slide over to the right  to allow air to circulate from outside as opposed to from inside the vehicle.

It just seems to get part way, at which point the blowers seem just less effective. I've tried WD40 on the cable end mechanism under the bonnet and given it a few flexes but the slider still refuses to budge. Its a manual system rather than digital. Guessing it could be a stuck/disconnected/broken cable behind the control on the dash itself.

Anyone else had this problem? Any advice welcome!

Cheers

Zin

Mine does not go right across either. All I can think of is that the set up under the bonnet is'nt quite right? I have not bothered to check in detail, as it does work ok as far as I'm concerned.

Hmm, a common-ish fault, or a design feature? Mine seems to "wimp out" on the blowers if I shift it from full left, so I reckon it isn't functioning right. You might be right about the set up- perhaps the cable has stretched? Failing that, I did see an old post about wire connectors on the plastic ratchet that feeds from the dash heater controls- might be adrift one, but I don't know if the sliding control activates one of those in some way.

Mine does that as well, it's only done it since I fixed the heater though. I think I didn't re-fix the cable properly and pre-tensioned it. Next time the heater comes apart I'll fix it :D

Sounds like a cable then..possibly a case of taking out the dash inlay where the lever is and seeing what is(n't) attached- unless its just a matter of adjusting the tension at the other end by the air intake?

it's definitely at the other end - air intake, for me

Looks like just a screw clamping the cable there-much like an old throttle cable adjustment- might have a mess with it this weekend.
