Hi all,
In my limited technical ability, what is open (for summer) and what is Closed (for winter) on the air intake switch on the left side as you look at it.
I have put some pics on if one of you experts can help me ! very much appreciated, my view is that pic 1 is open and pic 2 is closed.
thanks chris

Hmm- think I was looking at that very link earlier, although mine has a rather lightweight tension/return spring attached to the end of it.
Does it by any chance operate via a lever on the dash, or perhaps if you move it as you have done, does the lever on the dash move from one setting to another?

humm you are indeed correct, so during the summer you have the air in from outside set on the heating controls and in winter air circulation set on air from inside !! page 191 defeats the object unless i,am compleatly off track here lol

Ah! did that move the switch on the dash then? were you right about pic 1 being open and pic 2 closed?
Curious to know, as my dash lever is not working properly and I was trying to fathom this out.
..and page 191? Is that on the service manual by any chance (haven't splashed out on that as yet).
Cheers

The winter setting draws cold air from the bulkhead area - a bit warmer than the icy blast drawn from the bonnet landing panel in summer. Only fitted to northern climes Bongos I'm led to believe. Unclip the body of it and you'll see which position is summer. i don't think it'll make a lot of difference in the UK

yes it did, i had the dash set to air flow from the outside and it was as it is in pic1 then i set it to air flow inside and it had moved to pic 2 !! so thats the answer, but as Dandy wrote does it matter ?? well the more fresh air in circulating the better i feel !

thomas104, the photos you show are not cold climate air vent describe on page 191 of manual, this is hand operated lever, forward for warm weather and rearward for cold weather, it alters where air is drawn in for ventilation/heating system.

Result!

Looks like I'll be altering mine from the bonnet end til I get my sliding lever sorted.

Thomas, It is just where shown on page 191 of manual on left hand side of plastic intake housing, you would see easily if it is there. You may not have one though as , I think is fitted to cold climate vans only.
