:? :? Are you a member? If not, that's why you can't open it.
Sorry, know nothing about Manchester, but several Kwik-Fits have sorted it for members - there's nothing special about the system :D

Let me know if you get it sorted because mine is desperate - aafter a 3 hour drive on Friday when I nearly melted I should really sort it as it has never worked since I bought it 18 months ago!

I will probably try kwik fit in Bury but I dont know if they are familiar or not - hope so.

Hi,

If your air con doesn't work at all then I'd personally use an air con specialist rather than kwick fit. Firstly if it doesn't work then they probably won't touch it as all they do is recharge it, taking a reading first then afterwards as if they can't get it to work better then you don't pay.

I've been ringing around to get mine done and most of the specialist companies are the same price as KF but they stress they do a full service, which as I understand it comprises of:

Test system to see if any leaks or non functioning components beforehand (no point in spending time/money if the system has a fault or leak.

Drain all old gas and oil, put system in a vacuum to drain out all moisture etc.

Anti bacterial treatment.

Refill with correct amounts of fresh coolant and oil, plus some of them add a dye so any leaks are easy to spot in the future.

If your's isn't working there could be a simple or more comlex reason, ranging from a blown fuse to a slipping AC belt, to something expensive like a leak or faulty heat exchanger etc.

I'd call up Wheelquick first, if they don't do it themselves which is the preferred option as they are good with bongos, then they could maybe recommend someone that is good.

Hope this helps.

Thanks apole - I bought from wheelquick 18 months ago and it wasn't working well then but they said it just needed charging - I just haven't got round to it :)

I’m guessing you haven’t used the air con much

If the air con hasn’t been used much the seals in compressor dry and gas can leak pass, I personally would ring round and use and get it re-gassed, when being gassed if there are any leaks the machine will not be able to pull a vacuum, on most modern air con machines.

I wouldn’t go for the most expensive and ask if they can hold the vacuum for 1 to 2 hours min time is 30 mins if they ask why say you suspect the system has been left open, if they advise you to have a receiverdryer fitted decline

Sorry, you'll need to email Ian for the password, unless it's still in your email inbox (it was sent on 9th May) - I'm not risking him chewing my privates for giving the password away

Does anybody have experience with Halfrauds regassing the aircon? We need ours done as well (I have checked the fact sheet for the specs) and HF charge £39, which seems a bit cheaper than some other places. As much as I hate the place, it's also rather convenient.

Can't see why it should be a problem. It's the job given to the trainees in most dealers - the machine itself does the emptying and refilling automatically.
