grinding rubbing noise from rear wheels when I brake could it be new brake pads required

Either that or something's trapped in there, it could be you'll need to replace the discs too.

Sounds as if the rear pads need replacing - mine made the same noise at the end of their life. I had to drive 100 miles or so before I could replace them but there was still material left on the pads & the discs were fine.
