Hello I have pasted a response to a similar question i was asked by PM , below:

yes we have owned a w reg (2000) 2l petrol / LPG for over 18 months now and love it. It does have a full side conversion that seats 4 although i wouldn't like to be an adult passenger in the back as the rock n roll bed is shallow but im sure would be fine for kids.

As for the underpowered bit, some say they are but mine is a dedicated camper/ holiday vehicle for weeks away and weekends in the Lakes and North Wales as we are keen mountain walkers and its fine for this. I sits at 70 mph on the motorway at 3000 revs although on a hill if you want to stick at 70 you have to use the HOLD button on the auto shift ( if your not sure what this is is, it drops the gears so there's enough revs to get you up the hills. I have never fully run it on petrol but to be exact but i would expect is does around 25 mpg and 18 - 20 on LPG. Bongo's can be a bit small but are cool looking and you do get used the small space.

To sum it up , i am looking forward to getting back using our Bongo as we have not used it much over the past 5 months due to training for the London Marathon but we are looking forward to getting back out there in it. If i had the choice i would probably go for a V6 with LPG as i hear the fuel efficiency isn't much different. The diesels are nippier but a bit noisier but the services on Diesel should be every 5000k the petrol is at 12000k, and then there's the overheating probs and cracked heads we read a lot about on BF, but i still wouldn't rule them out as my mate has a R reg diesel that's great.

Hope this help, any more questions , just ask

hope you get sorted, some pics below of ours.

James

Hope this helps, sorry don't know if the 2l engine is used in anything else, but i was able to get service parts locally to order at not much more cost than a normal car.

Ho Joe, i'd simply pop along to wheelquick and take one out for a spin...Mike is of the opinion that if you are used to a diesel bongo, then jump into a 2 litre, then you will feel the lack of torque, and top end power...If however you had never driven the diesel, you would find the 2 litre petrol adequate for most applications.

Bongo's aren't for tearing up the tarmac with, but the torque of the diesel is reassuring to have, especially if you are towing, if however the bongo is for general use, then the 2 litre petrol would be fine.

We have a 2l petrol and are chuffed to bits with it.... Never thought of it as a fast vehicle, but I think it is most at home on A roads, rolling along about 60mph. It does labour a bit up the hills, but I try not to 'cane it' :D :D give one a test run, on some decent open roads as well as in town. Take along a couple of pals as ballast... you will be surprised. :D

All thye best

David.
