LED Spoiler Brake Light not working

Hi everyone
Unfortunately having gone to the trouble to respray and fit a rear spoiler it turns out that the LED is not working. I have had the wiring checked for power and earth so the feed is ok (of course on reflection I should had it checked prior to installation). Can anyone offer any advice as to whether this can be repaired or where I can possibly get a replacement?
Thanks
JH

Silly question, but is it connected the right way around as led's are polarity sensitive?

LED's have a very long life - suspect wiring (Polarity as Kirsty suggests), & connections.

Thanks for your replies - Kirsty and SD. I will have the polarity checked.
Best wishes

Hi all
Has anyone actually discovered the LED Brake light wires split/worn or otherwise through the rubber seal between tailgate and bulk head.
MY LED Brake light's not working, and cabling all looks in really good nick through the seal / rubber boot- don't want to disturb too much if there is another possible cause for there being no power getting to light.
I have tested for power at cables ends just outside of light housing - no joy?! So I am hoping light is not broken also!

I've got one duff LED in mine - it seems quite common thing for one or two to fail. Have you checked the supply to the light is ok?

Thanks Simon
Yes I have - there isn't a supply, so I know that's the problem. ( I don't know whether the light is broken - probably isn't.)
So my question is - where else, other than at the rubber boot between the tail gate and bulk head, could the supply be broken?
Probably wasn't that clear in last post!

You could take the spoiler off to have a proper look at the light. Simple to do as I took mine off to fit a rear ladder. Open the rear door and undo two bolts, one on either side. Disconnect the electrical connector then lift the tailgate off the retaining hooks.

No Need to remove the spoiler Matt... I'd unscrew the lamp and pull as much wiring through as possible, you should be able to access the connector plug, (if not you may have to remove the spoiler to gain a bit more "reach") Unplug the light and remove. Just because the insulation appears perfect doesn't necessarily mean the wiring inside is perfect, i'd use a direct 12volt supply at the plug end first, if still no joy cut the wiring to the led leaving a good 5 inches or so of wire at the "light end". Then try a direct 12 volt on the short section of wire left available...chances are the light will then work. Simply crimp a small new loom onto the light, and re-check continuity before re-fitting. Chances are the supply is good at the connector plug (best to check though using a multimeter)... Should be job done!

Hi everyone
My LED's did not initially work, but this was due to the polarity and now after checking this they are now working OK.
Best wishes

Eventually got round to checking wiring for LED brake light through rubber connector 'hose' it was indeed broken here - am posting conclusion as this would appear to be a repeatable fault - I'm sure many others will have experienced.
Put Brake light into bumper at same time. The internal structure of the bumper means that there are ribs in exactly the right places to accommodate that standard retro fit light!
