mouldy roof canvas

hello all, we have a canvas roof extension that has gone mouldy due to condensation. how can we clean this and avoid it happening again? cheers ,steve

Hi, I will go with dviser on this as it worked for me, dont try and do it all at once as i near burned my eyes and throat out lol,
but it wont shift it instantly if its bad, but within a few hours it will dissapear.

Milton solution also kills the spores, is probably better long term for the material, and is much more pleasant to use, but doesn't get rid of the stain.

The stain maybe harder to get rid of but it's worth trying. Don't rule out watered down bio washing fluid either.

Best to air your roof regularly and make sure if you put it down when wet you dry it out properly as soon as you can.

Thanks very much for the advise.....boyfriend went ahead and sprayed almost all the dettol bottle onto the canvas and came back with runny eyes and was coughing for half an hour !! whoops .....I'm going to do the lemon and water job later today as the sun is shining...thanks again, great tip !

Silly boy!!! I bet he lost his sense of smell for a while too. There's been warnings about taking care with this stuff as its basically spray on bleach. Fine as long as you are careful but.....

Did he make sure he washed the canvas down well with water as if you don' neutralise the bleach as per instructions on the botttle, it will have a deleterious effect on the tent fabric.

Anyway, hope he's feeling better now. 8)

wd40 worked on mine when i had it first about 3 years ago still ok hope this helps
