Dash lights, what should be lit up ?

Hi
Playing about in Bongo tonight, I noticed a distinct lack of light on some switches, and wondered if they should be lit, and if so, why they aint in my Bongo.
Electric blind switches on dash
Cigarette lighter
Electric window switches.
And why the dashboard lights for speedo etc only glow an alien kind of dim green
Anyone throw any light on the topic

dont wait for the fuel light to come on, you could have a long walk if you do

Hi kelvfarrell,
Electric blind switches on dash should light...
The rest on your list don't light up.
I would have thought they would have backlit the cig lighter.
I put a blue led behind the lighter meself & backlit the window switch while i was installing the remote locking!

How do the switches come out to check the bulbs ?
Do you just shove a screwdriver in and lever them out, or is there some complicated Japanese martial art technique you have to carry out whilst removing the switch

The japanese don't need illuminated cig lighters.... they just light their next fag from the one they're just about to stub out on the upholstery.....

Many on here have opted for a set of white dials with various lighting options.
Someone might post a pic up on here.

Two clips top & bottom at the back & push through to the front, then unplug the switch from the loom...
You will see the bulb holder in a recess on the side of the actual switch.

I found an old pic, i think Bigdaddycain's got some photo's too! both Mr Cain & Daveblueozzy turned me on to em in the first place.
As you can see it was taken in broad daylight.
You can fade the brightness & change the colour from either blue to green. ( i opted for blue.)

I've since sourced a mazda 626 rheostat switch to replace the fader for the dials.. It gives it all that factory look!

There is also a matching drive selector for the auto shift that glows the same way & fades with the dials!
