Hi, we are travelling to North Wales for May weekend and are wondering if anyone can recommend a good, happy family camping ground..... thinking of staying near Conwy/Llandudno area.
thanks

May not be quite far enough North for you, but I can wholeheartedly recommend
http://www.eisteddfapark.co.uk/. Stayed there two holidays on the trot 3 or 4 years ago, and would certainly go back. Close to Portmeirion (great day out) and Black Rock Sands (where you can park on the beach). The owner was investing a lot in the site when we went, very clean, friendly and well run with all the facilities you need. Fantastic views. Must go back this year

We visit a site in Tal-y-bont (LL43)
The site is a small 5 van site with hookup. It is on the edge of Snowdonia and 10 mins walk from the sea. Restaurant in walking distance ( Tony's) village shop pub and chippy all in walking distance. We park up and leave it set up to enjoy the forest and sea walks. Barmouth is about 6 miles away.
Shell Island is not far away as well.
It was about £12 per night including Hookup. Very accommodating couple as well. Shower is basic, but warm.
If your a member of the C&C club it's cheaper.

Yes I must admit it is a very popular site and you will have to book prior to travelling and no the pics were not taken in winter.

Looks like it could suffer from traffic noise, being adjacent to the A55.

No not really as the site is nestled amongs the trees and as you know they act as a noise barrier
