If you do a search on "headlights" and "cleaning" you'll find lots of advice.

by not so old
I tried all the remedys suggested and they looked a bit better, but the car failed MOT because they no longer gave a clear light. So I Just bought some headlights from a breaker. Sorted. Whatever you do, don't use anything that will sratch the plastic.

It's not just plastic, it's polycarbonate - you may be able to mark it with a hammer

It'll withstand all the T cutting you can give it
