Bongo Fury

I have had progessive loss of door electrics in the driver's door over the last few months.
Today I took my life in my hands and opened up the loom between the body and door, hoping that it would be the black wire.

I took the brittle tape off and then the protection tube, and the black wire was fine...

On opening the inner tape I found that there were a couple of broken wires, and on careful inspection there were 7 in the end

Is the loom splittable either side of the bulkheads? I have never had the door panel off, so have no idea what happens that side.

If that section cannot be replaced, how can I fit 7 repars back into th ebunch without it becoming huge.

I need help please as SWMBO is complaining about the lack of electric windows now things are warming up

i think the only way to do it is by cutting the wires back to the inner bongo and the inner door, and conecting them again, this way you wont end up with loads of bulky wires in the door joint.

I have used small bullet type connectors and small connector blocks, not a pretty sight but effective, I also found loads of wires split, they are so fiddley and what a bugga to do, such a cramped space, I have had an offer to buy a 2nd hand loom at around £30.00 so am considering it but what would the wires be like in it. I just bound them up again with a cable tie ready for next time.

I wish someone would set up making reconditioned ones - I should have thought to ask Harry about his before he scrapped his Bongo.

Today my techy son who normally works in the RAF repairing airyplanes decided to sort out the various problems that started with the drivers door lecky bits. He found that two had snapped and three had damage. He replaced all 5 by cutting them back and joining them using inline solder with heat shrink covering. This was done within two inches of both ends.

He tells me that such repairs should not be done "in the hinge" as the problem is almost bound to recur.

Central locking, windows ect. now work as they should!

I repaired the black wire & heat shrunk it, then decided to take up the slack in the body panel & loose the hinge clip V bend..
Which in my opinion causes more problems than its meant to solve with regards to the door opening/closing in the vehicles lifespan it's only a mater of time for the loom to break!!
