Afternoon every one, my N reg Std 4x4 auto Bongo has developed a suspension knock on uneven roads (every road bar moterways) both to the front & rear, Suspension brushes? or?
Also if i've a full load, 8 persons, the rear suspension bottoms out on some bumps even at 30mph. Are my shocks buggered. It dosent rock if pushed down on each corner..
Would welcome any comment.
Thanks.
Vanman

Suspension Knocks could well be your bushes and or their brackets, but most likely to be Drop Links. Sorry I do not know about the shockers.

If you do a search on "suspension knocks" or "Drop links" you will find a lot of information on the subject.

You have knackered droplinks and/or antiroll bar bushes by the sound of it. Cheap, simple and very effective to fix.
Bongos do tend to bottom out on heavy load and through the right rid at the right speed. Annoying but usually avoidable. SOme have fitted Airlift 1000 spring assiistors to stop it - don't recommend the other type of spring stiffener/assister though as it increases local stresses in the spring causing premature failure.

If its at the front it could also be the balljoints!!
I had the droplinks changed (still had a knock) then thought it was the bushes, had it looked closely at rather than an "own" diagnosis to find it was a balljoint at fault, had it changed and its like driving a new Bongo no more knocking and crunching!! Sorted!!!
