Bongo Fury

Is this normal?

When turning tight right the off side rear wheel does a wheel spin. I was not bootin' it either. Just noticed it for the first time tonight, when turning right at a juction, but for all I know, it might of been doing it for the last two years.

It does not judder or skip, just spins like it has too much power. Any thoughts?

It's a 4WD manual box.

mines been doing it for the last three years when on loose gravel type roads. its good when you get em all drifting on corners.
it will be sommat to do with the rear diff. probably someone else will be along and offer some more nuggets of advise

The question is Brora... Are you applying enough power to break traction on that wheel, or does it so it on a feathered throttle also? If you are booting it with a 2wd on a moist surface then no worries...

Have you both got limited slip diff on your Bongo's? I remember a Mits*****i Delica I had used to "wind itself up" on tight corners.

Sorry mike, i missed that bit... Hmm, mine doesn't break traction that easily....

Might be a good time to see what the rear diff oil looks like brora? If its gloopy and murky,that's indicative of wear, or at the very least the oil will need replacing i'd guess.

My 4by has open diffs front and rear. I haven't actually come across a bongo with an LSD despite what the diff casing stickers say on em...Mine has the LSD sticker, but the diff is most definitely open.

mine only does it on loose stuff when i floor it round a right hand corner never looked if its an lsd. should get round to checking oil. its in bits at moment as got two glowplugs duff. thread hijack.

Glowplugs again mike? Yep, mine sort of tries to break away over loose stuff with fullish lock and plenty of throttle shoving.

Diff oil changed a year ago, the old stuff I was told was in good nick. From watching "The Garage" when ever they had a vehicle with diff problems ( there were a few 4wd's) there was a whine coming from it, or when turning tight the wheel would judder/skip as it would not differentiate right. None of that is happening....thank goodness.

If theres anymore Hijacking of this thread, then I will send in the SAS!!!

Now....Glow plugs I can handle, as I have replaced twice since owning the Bongo just over two years. Cheap ones used first not long after taking ownership, they did not last a year.
So fitted NGK's on Dandy's advice, and have never looked back. luckly I used copperease when I first replaced with the cheapies...it made it a lot easier the second time round when it came to removing.

Ah! Glad to hear about yor diff (no worries there then) I'll be using dandy's NGK's when my cheapies go kapput!

still getting round to changing them since last winter steve.

hi there it could be the viscous coupling Im sure ,maybe that the bongo 4wd has 1 fitted same symptoms as a freelander?
