Can anyone tell me how do you remove the unit in the heading..?
Its a tight space to work in!
Does the switch have clips top & bottom?

If not.. Can anyone tell me what the wire colours to the close mirror circuit are??

Surely somebody knows this? I've never removed mine jay, so can't help with this, sorry.

Considering the unit is held in place quite solid, i was surprised to find four small pins/tabs (2 on either side of the switch casing towards each corner) holding it in place!

Brute force from the back of the dash popped the switch out in the end Ste..
I was lucky i guess, i didn't break the tabs!!

About 9 wires go into the back of the switch & to my surprise only 2 of em actually service both mirror folder motors... (Probably a trigger for a relay some where!)


While we are on the subject, does anyone know what i could use to keep a relay open for a set period of time.. Say 5 to 10 seconds after it has been triggered..?

A 555 timer or probably easier this little kit that look like it uses a 555 timer chip.

This was my plan, use 2 of these, one triggered by ign on, one by ign off each connected to the mirror switch

Hi MP3, i see, so the mirrors will auto-fold upon ignition on-off's? Sounds neat! Do you think Mazda developed a manually switched version for a safety reason though... Say you pull up at a busy road side, (busy enough to warrant folding in the mirrors) Then you open the door,and take out that passing biker as he whizzes past your bongo!

I think auto-folding upon alarm activation would be the safest bet...

Surely the idea would be that after ignition OFF it waits 2-3 minutes then closes the mirrors ? That way you get time to get out of the vehicle with the mirrors out - hence the need to delay before firing off the short pulse that sets the mirrors to close.
