Bongo Fury

my central locking is playing up and now i have noticed its mostly in wet weather .(i am in glasgow so this is most of the time)
has any one encountered this before and any ideas how to fix it ?
im thinking it must be water getting to somewere but dont know were to start looking .

the problem is it only opens the drivers door . i did purchase a new relay but havent had a look to see were it goes yet can any body tell me this .

hhc, as far as I know the central locking only works on the drivers door, well on my 95 it does.
Check the wires that go from the door to the body, mine broke there and gave an intermittent fault

Yea only the drivers door controls all locks with the key, remotes are different of course, got to be the dreaded door loom lol, those oh so fiddly wires.

Ah does sound like the drivers door loom then, you will have to check each of the fiddley wires in turn, there is a tiny bit of slack on the loom, probably one of the wires worn thru.

I have an intermittent fault on my remote central locking.It always works the drivers door,strangely if the sun has been shining directly on to that door it seems to work all doors or a quick repeat on and off does the trick

Strange, mine started acting like this on Sunday (though I was in Staffordshire not Glasgow at the time)... Remote loack all doors but only unlocks the driver's door.

When I got back to Glasgow I'd noted that the leisure battery appeared to be not charging. Found a fuse on the split charge relay setup had fritzed. Replaced it and the leisure battery started charging and the central locking was working again... until this morning when I took it out of the garage and only the driver's door is unlocking again. Fuse is ok so looks like that's a red herring.

If I found out what's causing it and have a solution I'll show you what to do and would be handy if you do likewise.

Hi giuys was serching the forum for probs with central locking and came upon this.

Recently my bag was nicked which had the bongo keys in, the locks were replaced at a bodyshop and about a week after i got our bongo back the exact same problem started happening, tho body shop say it has nothing to do with them and if i wanted it fixed they would charge me. so I am setting out to fix the problem myself.

Any further info appreciated.

I had a similar problem last year. I had been given the wrong information on setting up the voltage sensing relay,as a consequence the leisure battery wouldn't receive a charge...it drained. I had my radio and interior lights patched through via the L/B...what i didn't know was that the central locking is also on the same circuit as the interior lights...So in my case, a flat L/B meant central locking on the drivers door only. (i have remote central locking). Once the VSR had been wired back to how it was originally, and the L/B was charged, all locking resumed as per normal. I did as a precaution have the interior light circuit wired back to run off the starter battery, all my interior lights are LED's so no worries there.

Our bongo has 2 batteries up front so is it possible that the doors are working off of one and the starter off of the other.

This could explain when the bongo came back from the body shop the clock was an hour behind.

Im really confused now was hoping it was just a sticky lock or mechanism

Hi if you look at my previous posts you will see quite a bit on central locking, might be worth looking at. newbie

Yours is probably a winter model and both batteries are linked together, so all things are powered by both batteries. It will be a winter model if you have a switch, by the driver's knee, with a picture of an engine on it

I have a winter model too, which probably means that it will cost more when both batteries pack up at the same time

What does that switch with an engine on it actually do ?

I've been meaning to get around to fixing my intermittent problems with the central locking.....I took the sheathing off the drivers door wire bundle, and found FIVE broken wires....after a fiddle with the soldering iron....ALL working
If you're not busy one weekend, I suggest you have a go
