in car dvd fuse blown

Good Evening All,
I little help need here for me.

I have fitted and twin screen dvd system in the Bongo (centurion comes in a bag so it is portable). It worked fine yesterday. Today it blow the fuse (15a) for the stereo and the ciggy sockets (no 8 on the fact sheet, how helpful are those fact sheets) . I had it plugged into a triple socket extension from the front ciggy socket (with nothing else plugged in at the time)

Now the fuse in the plug on the actual dvd player didn't blow it in fact melted the plug together !!!!!!!!!. I can't get the fuse out (to check what rating it is) because it is fused with the plug it's self but it is the same fuse that has always been in it when I used it in my other car. Also the inline fuse in the dvd player it's self (15a) is ok.

I how now removed the plug & I have taken the fuse from the blinds (until I get some more tomorrow) and now the stereo and the triple socket extension are working again.

Can someone let me know if I can wire directly to the leisure battery. If so can you recommend wire rating and how to actually connect the wires to the battery.

Many Thanks
Steve M

I think you need to establish why the fuse blew. Hopefully, it was just the plug shorting out the triple outlet, but to blow a 15A fuse would probably be a direct short, certainly more than a DVD would draw.

Any ideas what could cause it?

Like I say only the dvd was plugged in at the time. All the wires are good (apart from the plug that has melted and fused together).

So if im right the only things running from the under dash fuse was the triple socket of which 1 outlet the dvd was plugged into and the stereo (I was using this for the sound form the dvd player (via a jack lead from the dvd and the head unit.

Cheers
