Bongo Fury

Hi guys,

I have a couple of coolant pipes etc I'm looking to replace soon in preparation for the summer.

Looking around and it's now been mentioned on here a couple of times, does anyone have any experience with these coolant enhancers? They are supposed to aid heat transfer and improve cooling as the anti-freeze if anything is supposed to decrease effeciency.

I've heard of their use in high performance cars but if it helps, it could be worthwhile using it in the bongo whilst it's all being worked on.

Looks quite pricey, £14 a litre for this product and you need to use 25% mix (13 litres coolant in bongo is quite an expense).

Hi apole, I saw your reference to this thread in t'other one.

I've just had a quick look at the website you linked to. On the 'further info' page, it mentions that the strength should be (if I remember!) 2-4% and that the anti-freeze level shouldn't kept to no more than 25%. Even tho' it's a corrosion inhibitor, it states that adding MORE than 4% could actually PROMOTE corrosion - gulp!

The Bongo doesn't require this kind of stuff in normal use - it's cooling system is clearly well up to the job. Also, if you suffered a coolant loss, then this additive wouldn't help out either. So, personally, I wouldn't use it for either of these reasons (unless, perhaps, you do regular towing and/or drive in hilly areas and have noticed the temp gauge (Mason'd, of course!) swinging widely upwards...

I was just curious as to whether it could possibly help to expel trapped air (ooh-er, missus), but I guess we'll never know...

I did some more research, millers do one too and you only need a 2% mix, but like you say, what is there already works fine so common sense would suggest look after what you have.
