Bongo Fury

I've got my new stereo and the right ISO adapter and I'm ready to fit over the weekend. Had a quick look at the original factory fit stereo, removed the plastic covers either side of the fascia and hoped i'd be able to pop it out by getting my hand behind it via the glovebox. No such luck.

Do I need some removal pins to get it out or is there another easier method or removing it?

Yes, you can use a coat hanger make two u shape pieces. Push into holes and they should release the catches. Radio then wriggles out!

Or you can buy some real ones from a car accessory shop if there's a problem

With the original stereo you can usually use 2 thin screwdrivers or such on one side - pop it out from behind a bit then do the other side. Of course if you have a proper tool to put in both sides at the same time its even easier .

Tool the pliers to a wire coat hanger and with a bit of bending, firkling and force out it popped! New stereo now fitted - well chuffed!

Also, wire coat hangers! Was my last one! Getting quiet rare now and very useful for many things - blockages, pulling wires through, removing radios, blue peter advent crowns etc What are we gonna do in years to come ???
