check the wires between the door and the body of the bongo, just maybe a chaffed or broken wire.

Respectful Sir,

If the back door won't open, how can one check the wires between the two?

:?

Fancy suggesting that Dave
This may help - http://www.lushprojects.com/bongopartsm ... mgno=.html not a common problem though. Take off the interior panel & have a firkle.

Not if it's a tintop.

The tailgate handle is a very simple bit of kit, access it from the rear by removal of the tailgate panel, take a look inside, you will see the handle has a "finger" that presses a bar on the rear lock, simply push that down with your finger to un-latch it. Check also that the central locking motor in the tailgate (over on the mid left when viewed from the inside) Is attached securely, in some cases this can jam the latch mechanism, depending on how the rod from the motor is situated at the time.

looks like it's my own fault, I changed the number plates recently, which were pop riveted on, bloody big ones at that.
anyway Ihad to drill them oot and the tails fell into the tailgate and were rattling aboot ,not to bothered aboot that but one of dun the impossible and lodged itself in the tailgate latch, anyway eventually got the door open and removed the latch and extracted the rivet oot, lesson learnt I think.

cheers.steviebongo

Goodo - a result at least and a possible 'type fault' reputation avoided :D

Fault with the design/vehicle rather than something we did to it.

Thanks for advising us, certainly one to watch for.

I always wondered why, (unlike the espace and my space cruiser) the bongo didnt have a handle on the inside of the tailgate, I can see why with campers as safety but flat tops I can't see the reason really.
