Bongo Fury

My Bongo has a Sony 10CD changer under the middle seats. This is all connected in with remotes for driver and passenger.

The CD magazine was in the cubby box when I first saw the beast, but between then and getting delivery, some helpful person jammed it into the CD player box where it stuck. I have had seversl goes at freeing it but no luck. The thing is powered, the remotes light up and one of them even talks, japanese or english. Not very informative just put CD in so far.

Has anybody any idea how I can unjam it or it a lost cause. The eject button is totally stuck and will not push in.

The radio has a band expander and seems to get most stations including BBC and local radio, so I would be pleased to leave it all as it is if it could be fixed. It also keeps off the local scrotes, since they prefer new kit.

have a look for a reset button on the side of the changer that might cure it

No matter how nice the stereo in a jap import you will always be glad you replaced it witha £50 UK cd player.

The CD changer in my car once jammed after the battery went flat while it was starting up; I had to take the cover off and manually "reset" the mechanism back to the "off" state by turning gears, unlatching latches, sliding bits that slid and generally doing all the movements the thing should have done itself. It took an evening of poking around with screwdrivers but it's been fine since. Serves me right for charging bike light batteries without thinking about whether the car would still start afterwards...

You can usually release a cartridge from a Sony changer by getting a firm piece of card and sliding it under the cartridge and moving from left to right.
This said, it sounds as if the thing is not working anyway (lifespan for the Sony 10 disc was about 3 years if you were lucky) so you may well be wasting your time I'm afraid.
You could try and get repaired at: www.ael-online.co.uk or ring them on 0121 522 6666 but probably cheaper to buy a new system

get a cheap cd player can play mp3

and you can get 10 disks on one

aldi not long ago did a 4x 50 watts one for 35 quid

A credit card under the cartridge also works on some Sonys. I've got (I think) a spare 10 CD cassette. PM me if it needs one.

I nearly bought a Bongo that had one of those, mounted on the floor. But I didn't like the way it got in the way of the floor space, undermining a Bongo design+ point i.e. the clear uninterrupted floor space (plus risked getting kicked and damaged). I'd sling it and get an MP3 type head unit as per advice above.
