As far as I know central locking was an upgrade, Some Bongos do have it and some don't. someone more enlightened will be along to comfirm soon. I had my Bongo fitted with a Thatcham cat one alarm and immobiliser bofor I took possession and was left with a defuct warning light which some say is the original Japanese central locking and immobiliser. Does your Bongo have one.

I thought the central locking was fitted as standard, but remote central locking was optional.

Factory fit remote central locking comes with a proper Mazda key like this:
On ours, when the UK fitted Cat 1 alarm was installed, the alarm/immobiliser control (also in this photo) has replaced the Mazda key control and operates the central locking, too.

The factory standard key operated central locking only operates from the drivers door lock as it doesn't have an actuator. If you want to fit remote central locking, the kits can be got for a round £20 from Maplins or Ebay, you will need an actuator for the drivers door - factsheet here -

Every bongo i have seen so far has central locking, be it remote, or manual. Have you tried the key in each lock roundspoon? I think the driver's door lock is the "master" lock, there may just be a loose plug, chafed wire or similar.

Could be a split wire in the dreaded drivers door loom, worth checking I reckon, incidentally that mysterious light looks like the one I have in mine which is linked to the immobilser but it could be anything I supose.

As BDC said, the first place to look is at the wires between the door and body.
The relay for the locking for the rest of the doors is behind the glove box.

Do you mean no remote central locking, or the key in the drivers door doesn't lock/unlock all the doors?
All Bongos should have the keyed central locking AFAIK. Many newer ones have remote central locking.
Have you looked inside the door to see if the bits are there, but just not working?
