Non starter - electrical issues!

Post by surfsup » Tue Feb 10, 2009 9:24 pm

Hi all,

I'm new to bongos. Recently bought a non-runner off ebay, been slowly working our way through its issues!

The other day it broke down on the road, we discovered that the power to the heater plugs and fuel cut-off solenoid had gone. We disconnected the fuel solenoid lead and put a new power source there as a get-me-home fix, but then realised the rev counter was not working, and also it was no longer changing gear!

We decided to pull out all the fuses individually to check they were all ok, after which we discovered everything was now working ok again!? So we pulled out the fuses one at a time to find which one isolated the power source, then replaced this fuse and cleaned up around it.

This solved the problem for about 70 miles and then it stopped again and hasn't restarted since regardless of how the fuse is fiddled with.

Any ideas?

Fusible link near the battery for the glowplugs gone?
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.
