air con pump/belt removal...

hi all, alternator belts gone yesterday, went to slacken alternator and remove front bellypan all ok but failed on a/c pump belt, is the adjuster the 10 mil bolt looking from the top, just in front of the alternator???regards neil

Not sure if you have the right 10mm bolt. The one you want will move the a/c belt idler pulley. You will first have to slacken off the idler pulley centre bolt.

thank you kirsty,always there with a handy helping link,looks like a combination of the 10 mil on the top and loosening the centre pulley bolt,if belts come tomorow ill go back with some knollage up me sleeve.......will report back....neil...

all done with no probs,well i say no probs i didnt get to see the fact sheet cos i couldnt get into the members area so getting the belts on was fiddley.....one thing puzzles me though while i was bleeding it it struck me the mazda method is so easy why have two people come up with their own methods,is the mazda method dodgy ??? please BDC or peg leg or anyone else who knows explain to me......regards to all....neil...

No it's not dodgy. It's not over complicated but it's not the simplest either, and needs to be done right, which takes time. People worry about trapped air and some have had problems bleeding them, so I think people will always come up with their own methods, they're an inventive bunch. :)

when the belts went the header tank boiled up a bit, because i was on an ice covered hill (going up) i couldnt just stop when the mason went off or the cars/whatever would never have got going again,i think it just blew a bit out of the header tank(half a pint maybe ) but all seems well now....
