David, you should check the age of the tyres, as well.
Don't suppose they are but if they happened to be cheap because they've been in stock for a long time, they could be heavily oxidised already, with a consequently reduced safe service life remaining. The tyre sidewall should have a month/year manufacturing date imprint, e.g., 305 = March 2005; 1107 = November 2007 (no leading zeros for months 1-9).
ROSPA recommends: "Tyres that have been in storage should not be placed into use if they are over 6 years old, from their date of manufacture."
That aside, and assuming they are recent stock, do you know if they also have 195s for Bongo fronts?

I already have 215s all round, and I want to experience the original Bongo handling this time - if I change, that is. It's not pressing, except that I've got some crap tyre sealant in which is causing unbalance, and I might just kill two birds with one stone, rather than just get the sealant removed. It's a long story but if I did, that would be the second time! Only perked up on it, because I'll be down that way first week in March, and if David's happy with his, I might pay and reserve now, and have fitted then - but I would want front 195s

Want and Like are two very different words..............................and they have nothing in common.

I went from 205 reinforced GoodYears to 195 Conti Vanco 8 ply and found the 195 had better directional stability - less likely to "tramline".........but that could be a tread pattern difference causing it

I think you're probably right. That's why they put 195s on the front in the first place - but, yes, they should be good ones, so am also interested in make/tread pattern, when David lets us know.

Right peeps just rang them, the make is accelera and they are brand spanking new ordered per vehicle and delivered next day, lol, I asked about 195's and the chap said they do a 195/65/R15 on a 91V rating, fully fitted etc, at £32.00 each. Now I suppose that would be okay on the front as most of the weight is rear end on bongos, he said they fit them as standard on the front quite a few vans with no probs. He also said if anyone wants any just ring em up a day or so before you intent to visit and they will get em in ready, to be fair they are really good on the phone and nothing seems too much trouble for em, well worth a call. I will be going tomoz afternoon for mine as they are being delvered in the morning (they had two but sold one to a chap as an emergency) lol. Hope this helps.

1 -Correct size is 195/70 - if they got those instead they should be rated 92 or more
2 - Just hope your insurer agrees..................
3 - Vans? Or Bongos?

I've got 17" Accelera's 98W XL, seem to be doing ok, not noticed any issues with them, but then I don't exactly do a high mileage & they've only been on since June.
If you're spending money on new tyres is it worth getting ones that don't have the correct load rating (MINIMUM 92 for the front) only saving a few pounds?

From the parallel closed thread
Did just trip over an interesting snippet from tyres-online
"It should be noted that these ratings are important in that it is a breach of Construction and Use regulations to run on tyres that are below the specified Load Index, it may also be dangerous.
And here's me thinking that Dave (of all people) would appreciate the need to comply with C&U Regs.

Ahh thats why I use 96H rated tyres which are perfect for the bongo and was the rated tyres on it when I bought it. 215's all round too.

AHA - a man who doesn't take his own advice.
