noisy drop links/arbs

I replaced my front droplinks about 10 months ago using the substitute ones mentioned in the forum - I also replaced the arb and bracket. Now I have the 'chattering' noise again on the nearside front and I've noticed a creaking noise from the same area. I read on here that the creaking can come from the ARB and I've just now sprayed it with a mcycle chain grease (someon else mentioned that here).

I am curious as to which part of this linkage actually creates the 'chattering'. Is it the drop link at one of the attachment points or is it the antiroll bar in the bushes? Has anyone had this distinctive noise and cured it by attending to the anti-roll bar bushes only? In other words is this noise a sure sign that the drop link has failed or could it be down to the bushes and the drop link is still ok?

Not a clue Ron I fear but if its still there when you come over (must fix that up at some point) I'd be interested to inspect it.

Had my front droplinks replaced two weeks ago due to the same conditions you describe Ron,it definitely made things quieter but I am still getting a little rumble on certain road conditions when turning to the right,my next job will be the bushes which I hope will solve it altogether so you are not on your own with that one Ron.

Cheffy - When you checked and found lots of movement in the drop link was that detectable with the van on the jack, wheel off but nothing taking the weight of the wishbone etc.? Or did you have to put a support under the wishbone to find the movement? My van is parked on the road (no drive) so I try to keep getting under it to a minimum.

As you say the wheel nuts SHOULD be easier to remove this time.

Get someone to rock the van while you hold onto them (making sure you don't injure yourself) you should be able to "Feel" the noise.

Thanks for replies so far. Kirsty - my son is a big fella and plays the guitar, I'll get him to do the rocking!
