Hi everyone, i left for work yesterday only to find i had a flat rear tyre, i took the van to my mates garage in the next street and went off to work, i asked him while it was there to balance the front wheels as there is a slight rattle at 60 mph. When i collected the bongo in the afternoon i was told that the alloys had been modified to fit the van, the bolt holes in the wheel had been filed out and elongated to fit the studs, and the center locating bosses where removed and in his opinion was amazed that they hadnt vibrated loose due to the now ill fitting nuts on the wheels.
I bought the van in august and have only done a few 1000 miles, the tyres are 205/55R16
So i now need 4 new alloys but not sure what are suitable, iv seen a few on ebay that are suitable for mazdas but dont know if they will fit on the bongo. Also now is my chance to increase the wheel diameter but again not sure what ones are suitable.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
Ian

hi i fitted 17" alloys from a mazda 5 sport with 205 50 17 tyres looks really neat and got cheap tyres to fit. road noise a wee bit louder but its worth the trade off, you can also get rx8 wheels to fit but tyres are a lot dearer. think most 5 stud alloys from newish mazdas will fit ,good luck.
cheers.
99 new shape 2tone silver bongo aft 2wd with bodykit.

Where did you buy it? Private or Trade?
If it was trade you certainly have a claim against the vendor for selling an unroadworthy vehicle.
Sale of unroadworthy vehicles
Road Traffic Act 1988
Vehicles that you sell, offer to sell or have on your forecourt for sale must be roadworthy. If you sell, offer to sell or have an unroadworthy vehicle for sale on your forecourt, then you will commit an offence.
When is a vehicle ‘unroadworthy’?
A vehicle is considered to be unroadworthy if:
* its brakes, steering, tyres, construction or equipment do not meet statutory standards. Or;
* its use on the road would present a danger of injury to any person. Or;
* it is dangerous due to structural corrosion.
* Also, you will commit an offence if any repair you carry out on a vehicle makes the vehicle unroadworthy.
Can I legally sell an unroadworthy car?
You will need to make a prospective purchaser aware if you are selling a vehicle you believe is unroadworthy. You also need to make them aware that using it on the road would be unlawful (ie displaying a sign on the vehicle stating ‘unroadworthy’).
You will have to be reasonably certain that the vehicle would not be used on the road until it is roadworthy. So you need to make sure that it is not driven from the premises. Do not hand over any paperwork which suggests that the vehicle is roadworthy, e.g. current MOT certificate or current tax disc.

That is just the first example I found on the net your own Trading Standards Dept should have something similar.
You may also have one in the case of a private seller as well, you have to ask TS Dept about that.
