I had to clean my banjo filter today and when i put it back in it flipped and went in upside down, trying to get it out i have damaged it and now need a new one so the million pound question is does anyone know where i can get a new one from (and a spring that i lost by coincidence in the spring ) any help would be gratefully received (as usual...) and what are the consequences of running without one.thanks in advance...neil...

Not an expert, but I would have thought the main fuel filter would take care of most of the crud in the fuel. I've had a look on Bongobits.com, but they don't seem to list it. You could try taking it to a diesel injection specialist to find a close match. I managed to lose the spring on mine so just found a similar diameter one in the shed & cut it to length. It is only to hold it in place, so the dimensions are not too critical. Good luck with your search

Give Bellhill a shout, they may be able to sort you out with one from a breaking bongo.

I was using up to 90% veg oil (pure rapeseed) in the summer but I'm back on 100% derv now due to it being cheaper than veg oil (after the VAT refund)

Its a Bosch pump so a Bosch agent should be able to sort you out - try Lawson Diesel in Edinburgh

according to the specialist who refubished my fuel injection pump its better not to have it as it will keep blocking up periodically, the fuel filter filters down to 5 microns anyway

I think I'd rather clean out the filter than have the crap scoring my injection pump or injectors.

Yep, if it isn't needed what does it block up with?

Have to admit to being puzzled by the banjo filter

How does a mesh strainer get blocked when it's after the much finer fuel filter?

Me too - but if it does get blocked it must be stopping something that shouldn't be getting past it.
Must be moisture getting in through the pipes.
