Coolant leak detector fluid

A couple of forum members have suggested that it would be a good thing to have a supply of Coolant leak detector fluid available to the membership.
As it is fairly expensive to buy a small quantity for personal use I have taken it upon myself to buy a "bulk" 'ish
amount which I will pass on at cost price. It will be supplied in 1 fluid ounce "shots" I understand a V6 requires a half ounce shot per treatment. It will not affect the colour of your coolant and can stay in the coolant for 2 years. As well as the dye you will need a UV torch such as
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2-Modes-41-LED-To ... 240%3A1318
The cost of a 1 ounce shot will be £5.50 delivered.
Let me know
Oh !! the fluid is Tracerline 3940
Oh ! Oh ! I should have it within a week

Yes Mike is right - I still have to top up after a long(400) mile trip, Haydn's alarm always alerts me. So whats the payment method?

Just to confirm that Haydn's right, and there is active interest in addition to those above, I already ordered my 1 oz from him. Looks a brilliant idea. I happen to know that Haydn's also buying in at least one 8oz bottle, suitable for dealer/garage multi-applications. Dosage is 1 oz per 6 US gallons of coolant, which means about 0.6 oz into the 13 litres of a V6 cooling system (1 US gallon = 0.3785 litres).
For larger quantities for trade use (and to give some promo balance here), find the UK distributor, Autoclimate nr Shrewsbury, online - they do only offer larger trade quantities though.

How's that work then? Is it a fluoresceine type product (bright green, glows in the dark)? Not sure why you need it. Isn't a puddle or tell tale signs of dried antifreeze enough?

If you have a "proper" leak..then yes, you may well see a puddle. However often your system will only have a "weep" or indeed only leak when up to temp and pressure. This is where the fluid comes in....it glows when a UV torch is shined on it. It will be handy for those that have to top up every few weeks and they don't know where it's going.
The company mentioned above don't have it in stock at the moment...3/4 weeks delivery....I have some on the way from the States and a bottle from the above being ordered. If there is a gang of you it would be a little cheaper to club together and get your own. I have to add on the P&P to get it to you.

Here we go again...I'm doing this as a service to members and not making profit.
What is your problem with me ??
Quite happy to cancel the arrangement if you instruct me to do so.

If you get as much as a puddle (you certainly don't then need any aids!), or if you can see see smaller leaks in the general grime and/or darkened inner recesses of an engine bay! Coolant with the dye added fluoresces (wet or dry) under UV, or (in the case of TP-3940) any fluorescent inspection lamp, while surrounding areas remain dark - true UV is beyond the wavelength of visible light. The fact sheet on overheating problems has photos showing how very hard to visually detect leaks otherwise can be.

Don't rise to it, Haydn! Just ignore it.
Doesn't it occur to people that, as well as an invaluable and generally friendly/constructive resource, this forum is just one huge advertisement. I've lost count of the number of purchases I've made from Maynards of Wetswick (and all power to their elbow too), who I would not even have heard of without this forum. I don't think Ian does a lot of advertising, or probably selling, outside of it.
