Roof stuck down!

I've just today realized that when I lowered the roof after the Looe New Year bash I had not lowered the elevated floor first. The the edges of sides of the tent are folded inside the van, poking out through the edges of the floor, and when I press the release button to relevate the roof, it does not start peeping. I of course cannot therefore lift the floor to release the tent sides. I was proposing to gently ease up the floor to release the tent sides while it was elevating.
Any ideas how to proceed?

Check the switch under the console is ok, to the rear of the handbrake, mine has got oxidised before, stopping the roof working, give it a bit of a scrape to make sure it's making peoper contact.
If that's ok, try pushing the button & giving the roof a bit of a shove, not sure where the microswitches are, but the rooftent material may be pushing on one giving it the wrong signal.. maybe

i know its not always obvious but make sure the handbrake is on before you try to raise the roof, if no luck then try cleaning the contact like Kirsty said.

I'm leaving mine well alone in this freezing weather. I don't like to think of the gasket getting damaged as I try to break the ice bond between the AFT roof and the car.

I had a similar moment earlier today - had a van in the workshop for a week, roof up. Had a 1pm appointment for VOSA to inspect the conversion, and at 12.30 started the van to lower the roof. I had continuous beeping, but the close switch had no effect neither did the cancel. Had a small panic, but fiddled with the switch behind handbrake and everthing worked - thank god.

Same as in an earlier thread, there is always a difficulty of "Erection of AFT " when the weather is this cold
Wait until the

weather has warmed up a little before attempting your next "Erection"

A couple of us could not get ours to go all the way up at new years. It was a bit of a slow affair. Temp was minus 5 though. And i am talking about AFT'S.

I've never done that, i've started the engine to RAISE the roof... Gravity seems to do the lion's share of lowering it, should i get into the habit of starting her up before i lower it do ya reckon?

I don't reckon it's so important when you're lowering it, as you say, gravity is in your favour.

I wonder if Australian owners can get away with Engine off to raise, engine ON to lower?
(time for one of my pills methinks...)

To be fair, I dont usually start the van to lower, but I was driving it out of the unit as well.
