There was a post about the oil light last month and I can now report that the oil light on the dash is both a pressure AND level light. The sensor for the level is in the sump.
I disconnected the wire and earthed it out whilst the engine was running - the oil light came on! :D

Thank you Dandy once again for the input.

The rest of you should be ashamed of yourselves & show a little decorum.

English as a second language is never an easy thing. (for some English as a first language is a struggle.)

definitely good to know it has a oil level warning, but still doesn't replace manual checks Brora [-X  .
Be interesting to know at what point/level it switches. Might have to have a play with the pela pump to find out at some point.

Cheers, Dandy - genuinely useful info.

(Very likely that's what tripped ICB's oil light recently, and a much better reason than the alternative!)

On ICB's recent post, he mentioned that he found the oil level to be just slightly below 'min' when the oil light would flash going around corners.

(What's all this stuff about 'Pippin', and being 'conformed' at church... :( ?)

Hi
Very useful...especially if you play with your pump, Kirsty, and tell us when the bells and whistles go off. Now, how many other lamps have 2 functions...I'll write them down so I don't forget, and keep it in the glove box....i'm SERIOUS...the old forgettory works too well at my age....so PLEASE ... can someone list those lamps!!!
Cheers
Helen
