Starter Motor Number

Post by dandywarhol » Wed Dec 10, 2008 6:09 pm

Could anyone tell me the make and number on a '96 diesel starter motor?

I can get a repair kit locally but need the motor number.

Thanks in advance

Alan

I'm looking for just the make and number wayne - an overhaul kit will sort it, it's a worn contact problem, fixed for a helluva lot les than £183  . I can get the kit from my local factor but they need the original motor number.

That's the number on the box, and therefore on my database. Don't have one to hand I'm afraid.

Don't forget that there are two models of starter motor - the winter one is more powerful, but can be replaced with the single battery model.

I'll try the Mazda number with my factors tomorrow - I don't think it'll compute though - they want the original motor manufacturers number. Thanks for trying though :D

Any other actual numbers stamped on the casing or on a sticky label will be appreciated :D

From what I've read on here, Moonshine (Colins) tips on replacing parts in the starter motor is only valid for the motors on the non winter pack Bongos. The (more powerful) winter pack ones (for some reason I can't remember) are not amenable to the treatment :?

OK gocha - no mine is non winter but I also look after a few other ones belonging to friends. One of these is a "semi winter" one - its got the cold climate heater air intake (probably the one you took to be mine on a previous thread) but it only has a single battery and no exhaust system warm up valve! funny things these Bongos................

260327927306

is the full code but it does not include the plunger like the one in Southampton does which may or may-not be needed
