Sticky Drivers Window

Since I've owned my Freda I have always had the problem of my drivers window sticking when the switch is pressed. I thought it was my switch which was a bit loose. Recently my switch broke so having scoured e-bay for a replacement as I wasnt going 2 pay the extorsionate prices that certain suppliers want for a replacement i found a replacement unit and swopped a few parts over. Having fitted the switch I still have a sticky window. Could anyone out there help me, do I have a problem with the electric motor or is it a runner problem, many thanks

a silicon spray is useful...worked a treat on mine....a couple of applications should work for ages.

I once saw a silicone spray used on the rubber seal, which sped up the window no end!

If that don't work, whip the door card off & lubricate all the gubbins inside.
Check the wiring between the door & body if it's actually stopping as if the switch isn't working, could well be one of the wires cracked/chafing.

The window slides down very quick anyway when it slides down,. its just that sometimes when the switch is pressed the window is slow to respond requiring a few presses of the switch 2 get it going

Check the wiring first then I reckon. The way it's bundled & clipped doesn't do it any favours.

I had this wit hmy drivers side switch. It was only after I fixed it that I was (almost) sure it was causing general slugishness, as everything seemd better after I'd fixed it.

What I managed to do was to carefully(using watchmakers screwdrivers) prise the slider contact mechanism inside the switch unit open and clean up the contacts by careful scraping with a modellling knife blade. I recall one of these was easier to take apart than the other would have been but in my case I got lucky and the easy one was the duff one. I couldn't believe it when the remedial effort worked (didn't expect it to) and so far - touch wood - its worked perfectly ever since.

I had this with my old Freda on both windows, would go down ok but had to coax them back up, it only happened when it was below about 2deg' though

When i put a new starter battery in, absolutely everything worked better ...the windows work a lot better, aircon, everything!

My drivers side window has been "sticky" since I got the Bongo - opens an inch or so & is then very sluggish for a couple of inches before it frees up again. I dismantled my drivers side switch today & gave the contacts a good spray with switch cleaner. Window working perfectly now.

Excellent. You were luckier than me. Switch cleaner didn't work on mine, but dismantling and cleaning the contacts did. Well worth doing a cleaning exercise before giving up I reckon.
