Bongo Fury

I have condidered getting hold of and fitting shortened springs.
I am thinking i will get better handling and will be more confident going under 2.1 metre barriers.
I know road humps may present a problem with clearance, but only the most severe!
There are several posts on this forum of people wishing to revert to original springs.
What are your reasons?
You have got me worried!
Will I be selling my shortened springs on Ebay soon?

I've thought about going down this route, spent a good 6 months weighing up the pros & cons.

The cons won for me I'm afraid. Although I much prefer the slammed to the floor look, filling the gaps in the wheel arches & sitting pretty on the drive - The practical side wins.

As standard, the ground clearance of the Bongo isn't that substantial, the very few times I've been off road (wild camping in Scotland etc), I've grounded out more than once, if I were to lose another inch I'd end up either doing some damage or getting stuck somewhere.

I'm sticking with standard springs for now.

I have no ground clearance probs really, and i have many speed bumps around me, the only thing i would say is take em slow cos it does come down quite hard, even when i got 3 adults and 3 kids and there rubbish in it it clears the bumps, i do have one paticular parking space at work i can't use because it has a big bump rite in the middle of it only scrubs the undertray slightly, but hey you need to make some sacrifices for it to look cool Do it don't be shy there are a couple of sets on ebay at mo, i also know someone who has a set of mazdaspeed shocks struts and spings up for grabs at mo in a nice fetching lime colour if i had the cash i'd ave em just for the matching shocks and that

Clearance isn't a major issue really... But the harsher ride isn't to everybody's taste, i'm used to it now, and realize the limitations of having lowered suspension, there are benefits (handling,easier to get in & out of bongo,looks cool) and disadvantages (less ground clearance,harsher ride,increased possibility of damaging/knocking off bumpstops)

No major probs then, and some advantages.
Main thing for me is the ugly gap between the wheels and arches.
Forgot to mention I tow a caravan but I think better handling will benefit towing.
