Hiya can anyone shed any light on this one what or where I should be looking for when its daylight?
My bongo has a puddle of oil under it, I have just it (approx 1/2 mile) unknowing that it has spilt its oil out, oil light came on....I guess that the underneath will be coated now but what/where should I look first....
what is the worst case scenario?

Has it been serviced recently? Check that the oil filter is tight and the rubber seal is not distorted.

Yep !! thats the first thing to look at....not really much else can dump it that quick other than a hole in the sump.

Thanx for your quick replies, keep them coming, so I can have a good look tommorow....
the other half has just got in from work and has mentioned that when he did the oil change a couple of weeks ago the new oil filter was slightly longer!!!....
I am just keeping my fingers crossed that thats all it is!!!
Will I have done any damage driving it?

There were a batch of dodgy oil filters going around - which blew off in the worst case senario

My Bongo recently dumped its oil 500 miles after an oil and filter change (which in terms of time was one weekend of driving). It was coming from the filter, which was correctly tightened. My guess is that the filter was faulty. It's now a month later, and it has not leaked any more oil. If you stopped the engine fairly soon after the oil light came on, you are unlikely to have done any damage -- the oil light came on on mine with the oil level around the minimum mark on the dipstick.

The Bongo oil light is dual purpose - level and pressure

Well, I've never tested it but there's a couple of wires to a sensor near the sump drain plug - I can't see it in lushprojects pages but I'm sure it's a level device. I'm changing my oil next week - I'll report back.......

Just as a matter of interest (cos I'm too lazy to check) how much oil do I need to buy to do an oil change?
thanks

Ta Kirsty.....2 x 5lt bottles should include a bit extra for topping up later.
Given the price of 1 litre it wont make that much difference.

I bought a 20 litre drum last year, worked out cheaper, can't remember how much though, but at least its good for 3 refills, just a bugger to pour
