Bongo Fury

I have tried sites in Holland, Essex and Sussex, but have met with the same response. "Sorry, that's the first week of the school holidays, so we don't want to take a block booking......"

We could go back to Kings Lynn again, but a lot of people mentioned that there were no shops or pubs within walking distance, and it was by the side of a busy main road.

So has anyone out there any recommendations for a venue? The dates are Wednesday 22 to Monday 27 July 2009, it must be able to take 50 Bongos (minimum) all in the same field, have electric hook-ups, child and dog friendly, be walking distance to a pub and/or shop, and situated in East Anglia or the South East.

Please only recommend sites that you have personally visited.

Since you are not, so far, overburdened with suggestions - I have one that covers none of your criteria. Camping Le Patis, La Roche Bernard, South Brittany, is in walking distance of at least 5 good cafe/restaurants, a couple of good pubs: it is on the banks of the lovely Vilaine river and a short stroll to a quaint old town. It's surrounded by 'good days out' for a Bongo. Not sure of figures, but would take upwards of 20 vans, possibly more for a block booking, with electricity. Child and dog friendly, and the manager speaks fluent English. We've stayed there and go back regularly.

A possibility might be Cakes & Ale near Leiceston we were there a couple of years ago. Good site reasonably convenient for all facilities, and a good centre for touring. We cycled as far as Southwold, Aldeburgh and Snape.

You could try this site, we stayed there once trying out an "A" class motorhome and it seemed to be much the same standard as Stourport.

If you contact them and they can accommodate you, I can check it out again as our stay was 3 or so years ago.

These have got 22nd to 25th don't know if they can squeeze in another 2 days
It's 1 mile to pretty village pub and trout stream thingy for great pinics. close to burford and wild life park(Zoo) but probably not everyones taste

* Supermarket, Pubs, Take a ways, Post Office,
Newsagents all within a short walk from the Park.

The site consists of 20 acres with access to country walks ideal for dog walking or just exploring.

We are situated only 4 miles from the A14 near Newmarket and 8 miles from Cambridge City Centre

The Cotswold Water Park isn't far to drive from there neither - good for picnics, walks and an inland beach for the kids.

Yes a pretty and accessable area!

As for Holland .....http://www.braakman.nl/ we have been here before, it is in Flemish Holland- Zeeland- (in the top part of Belgium) so you get 2 countries as if you are crossing a county border.
It is 170 Km Calais or 130 Km from Dunkirk ports.

It is on its own "island" and has plenty to do as well as shops and it's own pool too - take a look and google earth it, might be worth a try or there is Duinrell at Wassenaar too, but Duinrell doesn't have too much take your own camping though.

Scanner - Crystal lakes looks promising.

hi john. Yes i realised it was caravan club, but didn't think it applied to the Rally Field as well !#-o

Ah, you may well be right Can't see any mention of hook-ups on the rally field though - nor any signs of them in the pictures.
