A famous problem.

I am slowly working through the numerous little bits that need fixing and have come across the good old broken manifold stud enigma. It was like meeting someone famous, I'd heard and read so much about that little fella, so i had a big smile when I actually met him and I even spoke to him in a friendly and respectful manner. He is sitting next to me as I write, looking all sorry for himself and covered in soot. he's half the man he used to be.
So. I will get a new stud from AVA and then what? From looking at the job, i just don't have the tools or patience. I live in Yeovil, anyone recommend a garage nearby. And by that I mean in Yeovil preferably. Should I change the gasket while it' opened up or is that not necessary.
Also, could I simply bung up the offending area with some suitable heat proof sealant as a temporary measure?
Grateful as ever.
