Bongo Fury

Hi all,
I wonder if you can help me?
My mother in law wheeled her wheelie-bin in to the back of our bongo and smashed a hole in the red plastic of the brake light. The bulb still works though. Do I need to buy a whole new light cluster or can I just replace the plastic bit ..and how easy/difficult is it to do?
Any advice much appreciated

I believe you can get some sort of repair tape from Halfords. I found this on their website

Which I guess is the stuff.

If a repair is not the answer you'll have to replace the whole unit, 2 screws visible once you've opened the tailgate, undo those & gently thump the light outwards sideways, twist out all the light fittings & then do the reverse with the replacement unit. making sure to get all the lights in the right order . Have a look on ebay, some cheaper lights out there at the mo, make sure you get the right one for yours, orange or white indicators?

Hi Lottie, and welcome, Mike's right, you can get repair tape from any car accessory shop, and plenty good enough for a temporary repair, might do permanently if it's not too bad.

I'm sure Ian has done a You Tube video on removing the rear cluster, in the Member's area, but I don't know about availability of just the plastic bit.

You could try one of the regular breakers of Bongos, Bell Hill, near Bath, JAL, Worcester, and I did notice one or two breakers at Allan's, Plymouth.

Wow that was quick I wasn't expecting any replies yet!
I might give repairing it a try cos the rear clusters I've seen are about £90
I've put a request in on breakeryard.com and I'll have a look on ebay too.
Don't think it's mendable though really ...will have a proper look tomorrow

I used repair tape on our rear light, it lasted months till I got a replacement, gave us time to save up

Maybe ML could claim she was doing it by the official Wheelie Bin method and claim that way.

Was the bin insured? She'd probably caugh up from her own pocket if she though a charge of using a wheelie bin without insurance could be coming her way. We have police and lawyers...
