Bongo Fury

Might get around to fitting low coolant alarm next week. Cant wire into window blinds as these also work from leisure battery. Anyone wired to somewhere different and is it ok to just cut in with a scotch lock connector.

I seem to recall the fitting instructions, when I did mine, advised on exactly what wire to tap into (somewhere under the steering wheel). It all went swimmingly.

Anyway Haydn will know. PM him if he doesn't spot this post (hey, does the eagle ever fail to spot the rabbit - I think not )

I wired mine to the front wiper (which I think was fuse 15, but check first) because I've also got my blinds on the leisure battery. I don't think I'd use scotch locks - I've never found them that reliable (but maybe I've not used them correctly in the past).

O.K. then....You have to wire it to a wire that becomes live when the ignition is switched on. This is normally from the back of the fuses by the drivers Knee, Half the top row is permanantly live (no good) the other half is ign switched live (any of these are o.k.. If your 2nd battery has taken over all of these then you will have to look elsewhere. Is the ciggy socket still switched ? if so you can get at that with no bother. Otherwise you will need a volt meter and just search around. The back of the Ignition switch will certainly have what you need. To be safe put a inline fuse in the Red live wire.
You should be o.k. What about the radio / cd ??? is that perm live ?

OH !! yes you can use a scotch connector. Don't really like them. Better to use the spades in the kit if you can crimp. But if you use a scotch really make sure you get a good connection and if the alarm ever plays up have a look there for the fault first. I have used them a couple of times. Better than a dodgy crimp.

We Have a switch to turn electrics to leisure battery, radio comes live as well as blinds, wing mirrors, lighters etc. Will have to have a look around to see which comes live on only ignition, think wipers might be ok anyone know which fuse they are on.

As Haydn said, any circiut that swiches on & off with the ignition (otherwise you won't get the self test)

Never use scotch clips.

There should be a law against them.
They are unreliable and expose the cable they are spiced into to corrosion.
I think they were designed for lazy, time strapped mechanics

I have used then for towbar wiring and car alarms in the past & have had nothing
but trouble with them.
(Even have a ticket for trailer indicator not working to prove it)
